Are you new to horses and confused and frustrated by conflicting opinions on horse care? Are you a seasoned horse owner who is seeking up-to-date practical advise on horse health topics?

The Equine Institute can help you make the best choices for horse health!

Most horse owners acquire their knowledge from two sources - other horse people around them and the internet. But if the people around you do not have proper education or training or if they do not stay current with their training, they may not be the best source of guidance. Misinformation is often propagated in the horse community through tradition and old wives’ tales. This results in a “we’ve always done it this way” mentality that may not be in the best interest of you or your horse. It is sometimes initially difficult to tell who’s advice is sage and who is leading you astray. Additionally the internet allows horse owners to bypass professional advice and supervision. Much of the information on the internet unfortunately does not come from credible sources. This leads to a lack of understanding of basic equine needs. Poor husbandry and stress has resulted in increased occurrence of preventable diseases in horses. Poor knowledge of conformation and its repercussions has resulted in the breeding of inferior animals predisposed to lameness.
